Santa's Shakin' (SuperInformation)
Wow!!!! Hello family and friends, just wanted to let you know that the 6.5 quake that you're watching on the news happened in San Simeon, which is about 3 hours away, give or take.
Here in Milpitas, I was sitting on the couch, and started to sway a bit. I thought I was imagining it until I looked over and saw the ornaments on the tree swaying as well. I looked back at Angus, who was on the couch behind me, and he seemed totally unfazed. It lasted about 30 seconds (give or take) and felt like I was in a boat on the sea, just swaying back and forth. Not violently or anything, but definitely perceptibly.
Dave was here with me when the last earthquake happened. That one was fun. This one was more scary because I was here alone. Now that it's over, though, the memory of it is fun :-)

Now the big red square is blue :). Holy cow, look at all those aftershocks.
Here at work, nearly everyone felt the big one hit. It was a very gentle rolling motion. I felt like someone was gently rolling my chair in a circular motion. And then everybody looked up and saw the lights gently swinging from side to side. Caused quite a commotion for at least 20 minutes, with everybody making phone calls and checking on earthquake web sites.
Glad the earthquake was south instead of north. Not read any damage reports yet... but I think it missed the major metropolitan areas.

I didn't feel a thing. Nothing. Or maybe it hit right as I was trying to take down the side of the crib one-handed while holding Ellie firmly but gently and soothingly, always soothingly, in the other hand. I always lose my balance and sway a bit anyway, so maybe I wouldn't have noticed.
