Pogo on a Trampoline

Two New Machines (Odd Musings)

VacuumLaptop.jpg

Our old super-cheap vacuum (~$50.00) is no longer well. When you turn it on, it makes the following sound:

Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (for about 90 seconds). Wr. Wr. Wrr. Wrr. Wrrr. Wrrr. Wrrrr. Wrrrr. Wrrrrr. Wrrrrr. WRRRRRR. WRRRRRRR. WRR. WRR. WRR. WRR. WR. WR. W W W W W W HOLY BLOODY HELL!!!! TURN ME OFF BEFORE WE ALL DIE!!!!!!

I don't dare leave it on for longer than 2 minutes at a time, or it will explode. Afraid I am. The motor probably just needs replaced, but I didn't want to spend $30-$100 (my estimate) to fix a $50.00 vacuum, so I bought a new refurbished vacuum online from some guy named Gontaza Fznigt (names have been changed).

I like this vacuum. What I look for in a vacuum is a long cord, a lot of picking up handles, and plenty of easy to reach knobs. This vacuum has all those things, and it vacuums dirt into itself.

My second new machine isn't new per se, it's just that it feels like new. My laptop has had falling-apart disease for about 12 months now. I realized it only had about 2 weeks of warranty remaining, so I called up Dell to see what they could do.

The Dell guy (not dude) stopped by yesterday and replaced the keyboard (the letters s, a, t, a, n, and number 6 keys randomly stopped working), power cord (only worked if you twisted it into a pentagram shape), and the hard drive (very loudly coaxed my older cat into sacrificing smaller virginal cats to the prince of darkness). It was hell getting my hard drive backed up and restored, but now it all works much much better. The hard drive is still much too loud for my taste, but the keyboard and power cord work great.

Yay! The new vacuum is swell, even though I've never used it!
:)

Anyone want a partially-broken vacuum?

I've heard that you can buy plans to build a hovercraft out of those old vacuum cleaners.... Popular Science or Boys Life or something like that...
