Pogo on a Trampoline

Road Trip to Lick Observatory (Odd Musings)

We had a great afternoon at the Lick Observatory, today. Weather was nice, traffic was light, and the observatory is cool :). We drove up and around hairpin turns for about 20 miles East through the Diablo Range. Lots of bike riders; Geena and I think they are insane. This is a very skinny 2-lane road with solid yellow lines for over 20 miles, and for most of the way, you can't see more than 20 feet of the road ahead of you because the mountain is in the way. Was fun :). Some people are considering making a 6-lane highway up in those parts, but I doubt that'll ever happen.

The Lick Observatory lies on Mount Hamilton (Reverend Hamilton pictured above). There have been a couple of fires near the area within the last 2 weeks. We didn't see any smoke or fires, but we did see several firetrucks and other emergency vehicles.

The Observatory is currently the home of the "Astronomy Quilt Piece of the Week". Seeing it online doesn't do it justice. It is neato.

I took this pic, can you tell?

Apparently, there are earthquakes in California.

Apparently, Geena likes to touch lifelike beard representations.

She's cute ;-)

YAY for travelogues!

Amazingly, you took more pictures on your trip up the hill from your house than we took on our whole whirlwind weekend in Azirona.
