Reception (Odd Musings)
So... NASA can rewrite software on a robot that is oh, about 300 million miles away, but although I am about 10 feet from the router, I can usually only get 3 of 4 signal bars from my wireless airport card.
There are detailed color pictures that are being beamed across the freaking solar system only to end up on my computer here in California, but cell phone reception in rural Illinois, USA, Earth, is spotty at best. At least for Sprint PCS.

NASA has a bigger wireless card. I saw them hauling it down the highway one day on the back of one of those special "wide load" trucks, and just thought to myself "Wow, I can only imagine the port that thing slides into. It must be awful if they accidentally slide that in crooked and have to take it out and do it again." Then again, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to get it lined up right the first time...
Your phone reception may be spotty in rural Illinois, but my plan doesn't even cover Mars!
