Pogo on a Trampoline

One good omen contained by a storm door. (Odd Musings)

There was this huge 3-inch wide, hissing ladybug in my dream this morning. It was sitting quietly up above a door that went outside. We wanted it out of our house, but we didn't want to kill it. It was so big, we calculated that swatting it with a book would only slightly injure or annoy it, so we collectively decided to capture and release.

I put this big container over the ladybug and it got real pissed off. It was hissing and throwing itself at the sides of the container. Every time it hit the side, there was this loud *thunk* sound. Since the ladybug was freaking out, there was no way to put any type of cover on the container. The only thing keeping it from flying into the interior of our house was me holding that container against that wall.

After a few seconds of quiet contemplation, I decided to open the outside door, swing open the storm door, and then swing the container outside as quickly as I could. Hopefully that ladybug would stay in the box long enough to be thrown outside of our house into the ladybug wilderness. I gave it a shot, and it almost worked. Now the ladybug was flittering around in between the main door and storm door. The main door was clear (???), so I could see it flying around crazy in there.

That's all I can remember about the dream. But there's a twist. For the last year or so, I've been telling myself that whenever I see a ladybug, something good is going to happen soon. I only see ladybugs once every few months or so, and some relatively minor good thing does always happen. My conscious mind knows that this is just a fun game that I play with Geena: "Hey look! A ladybug! Now something good is going to happen". But what if my subconscious mind has quietly linked up the image of a ladybug with the thought of soon-to-come-by good fortune?

Take this one step further and suppose that my subconscious mind can somehow predict good fortune? Perhaps I've successfully trained my subconscious mind to communicate with my conscious mind via imagery in my dreamworld? Maybe the huge ladybug represents something very very good that is going to happen to me soon? If so, why is it stuck behind a storm door?

It's stuck behind a storm door because you didn't go around to open it. Duh.
If this ladybug is a good omen, why was it pissed off? Oh - I guess because you were trying to kick it out.

So why on earth are you trying to kick out a big huge good omen? Are you crazy?

*Somebody* had to get the ladybug out of the house. I know how much you hate big hard-shelled hissing beetles.

I personally don't think it matters what I did with the ladybug. All that really makes a difference is that I had a significant encounter with a ladybug. And that's important :-).
