Catching up (leaping ahead)

Well. I thought I was saving a draft for my own personal reference, but apparently I published it. So now I'll just go ahead and flesh out some of these cryptic notes a bit.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, Whom Do You Read With?

Taken earlier this afternoon. Unedited, with bonus background music "Naptime Whine" by Sleepy J. Sorry about the jerky camera work, but this was definitely not a staged photo-op and I wanted to capture it before it ended!

The Potty Conga

Pee-pee in the pot-ty! Pee-pee in the pot-ty!

For once, my slackage laissez-faire attitude seems to be paying off. Apparently Ellie has learned about "potty power" from the other kids in her class, and has been enjoying sitting on the toilet several times a day, and has really really been enjoying 'washing her hands' for up to a half-hour after each toilet visit.

This morning I turned the faucet on to a small stream in anticipation, and because I love the way she exclaims, "Faucet is peein' in da sink!" and then I noticed an extra tinkling sound. Ellie Peed in the Potty!

We're doing the potty conga today! Pee-pee in the pot-TY! Pee-pee in the pot-TY!

I don't even remember). We used to just go around our block and then back home and straight into the bedtime routine, which is what I had in mind this time.

Decisions, Part 2: Yes or No?

Today I thought I'd try something new. After I asked Ellie a question with a yes or no answer, such as "Do you want Froo Loops?" if she seemed to be waiting for me to offer her another option (". . . or Cheetah Chomps?"), I'd try to prompt her to answer yes or no.

So we had conversations along these lines

Mama: Ellie, would you like Froot Loops?
Ellie: silence
Mama: Ellie, would you like Froot Loops, yes or no?
Ellie: No no. Okay, I want yes.

Mama: Ellie, you seem tired. Do you want to take a nap?
Ellie: silence
Mama: Ellie, do you want to take a nap, yes or no?
Ellie: No yes! Okay, I want no.
